Gateway Financial Aid & Dual-Billing Guide

1.Submit Your FAFSA/TASFA to TXST:

List Texas State University (School Code: 003615) as your primary institution. TXST processes and manages your overall financial aid package. 

Complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) for each academic year. If you are a non-citizen who is a Texas resident, complete a Texas Application for State Financial Aid (TASFA).

2. Integrated Aid Awarding:

An internal Gateway indicator ensures TXST calculates your financial aid eligibility using your combined enrollment hours across both institutions.

3. Aid Applied to TXST First:

Your awarded aid automatically disburses toward any active tuition, fees, or university charges on your Texas State account first.

4. Direct Deposit Refund Issued:

Any remaining financial aid funds beyond your TXST balance are issued directly to you as a refund. Set up Direct Deposit in your TXST ePay account to receive funds as quickly as possible.

5. Settle LSCO Tuition in TouchNet:

Once your refund lands in your bank account, log in to MyGator (www.lsco.edu), navigate to TouchNet, and pay your Lamar State College Orange tuition and fees.

Using Military Benefits in Gateway

Veterans, active-duty service members, and military dependents can utilize GI Bill® benefits, Hazelwood Act benefits, or federal tuition assistance in the Gateway Program. Because coursework spans two institutions, certification documents must be submitted to both campuses:

Action Items for Military Benefits:

• Texas State University: Submit your certification request and supporting documents through the TXST Office of Veteran Affairs
• Lamar State College Orange: Submit required benefit documentation to the LSCO Veteran Services Office.
